Contemporary Artist
Create a unique visual concept and express wandering the emotional collision - Carle Shi
about
A painter known for her detailed and precise still life, Artist Carle Shi graduated from Tianjin Design of Art School China in 1982 and from Tianjin Academy of Art in China 1988. After immigrating to the United States in 1989, she settled in California. In 1992, she began her professional career as a painter, focusing on still life in which she portrayed fruit. She used a technique inspired by seventeenth-century Dutch still life and a European classical approach to composition. Shi moved to New York City in 1998 and completed her master's degree at the Graduate School of Figurative Art at the New York Academy of Art in 2000. In 2006, a portrait that Shi painted appeared in a group show at the Museum of Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in DC. And in 2010, a solo exhibition was displayed in the Today Art Museum in Beijing China. In New York, Shi added nature and figural subjects to her repertoire, working in a style that combines classical and contemporary approaches. Her newest concept "Dreamscape Reverie & Whimsical" expresses the emotional collision between humans, nature in different times, and spaces between heaven and earth. Shi’s paintings have been collected by many private and public institutions during the past thirty years.
